ATTENDANCE & PUNCTUALITY

Moor Green Primary Academy believes that in order to facilitate teaching and learning, good attendance and punctuality is essential. Children cannot achieve their full potential if they do not regularly attend school, on time.

We are committed to:

  • Ensuring parents follow the framework set in section 7 of the Education Act 1996, which states that the parent of every child of compulsory school age shall cause them to receive efficient full-time education suitable to their age, ability and aptitude, and to any SEND they may have, either by regular attendance at school or otherwise.
  • Promoting and modelling good attendance and punctuality behaviour.
  • Ensuring equality and fairness of treatment for all.
  • Implementing our policies in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
  • Early intervention and working with other agencies to ensure the health and safety of our children.
  • Rewarding regular attendance and good punctuality.

Reporting Absence

It's crucial to inform us of your child's absence reason. Please notify the school promptly on the morning of absence. If we don't receive information and your child is absent, we'll reach out to you to establish the reason.

Every School Day Counts!

Every single day a child is absent from school equates to a day of lost learning.
Attendance percentages can be misleading. For example, the reality of a 90% attendance figure means that your child will miss half a school day each week or 19 days of school during the school year – that’s nearly 4 school weeks! This means your child will miss out on lots of new learning and the opportunity to revisit and consolidate prior learning. The impact of regular absence can have a huge impact on your child’s readiness for secondary school education.

The school maintains attendance records, and it's a legal requirement to publish figures of authorised absences. If your child is frequently absent, we will contact you to arrange a meeting to find out the reasons why and how we can work with you to achieve improved attendance.

Please do not take holidays in term time. We will not authorise them and you will be fined by the local authority.
